These single-gas, multi-gas, PID monitors, controllers, and wireless alarm bar can be installed to provide continuous, always-on monitoring for toxic gases and gamma radiation. Mostly toxic gases are monitored and measured in parts per million (ppm) range while Oxygen is measured in percent volume. Combustible gases are generally measured as 0-100% of the lower explosive limit (LEL). Portable gas detectors are classed as a type of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), designed to keep personnel safe from gas hazards and allow mobile testing of locations before they are entered. These small devices are essential in many areas where gas hazards could occur, because they are the only means of monitoring an operator’s breathing zone continuously, whilst stationary and moving.
Portable / Fixed Gas Detectors
Although fixed gas detection does provide personnel protection in its own right, it cannot move with the operator, and this creates the possibility that the operator could enter an area beyond the detection perimeter of the fixed detector.
Single Gas
Single gas detectors are normally used to detect the presence of any one of the hazardous gases in a particular environment. It is normally deployed as a part of safety system. Single gas detectors are chiefly use to detect leakages in gas lines and are interfaced to control systems to carry out preventive actions. Single gas detectors are also equipped with alarms to alert the operators/workers into leaving the area.
Multi Gas
Multi Gas Detectors are used to detect the presence of multiple gases in a particular environment simultaneously. Simultaneous detection of multiple gases enables the user to take necessary actions as per requirements. All detectors are equipped with any or some of the industrial standard networks such as RS485, 4-20mA current loop, RS232 outputs. Some of the detectors have built-in memory to keep track of the measurements for further analysis.
